Slow is fast.

2wd buggy will make you a better driver.

Track time is a crucial ingredient to be a better driver.

Batteries are a bigger deal than motors.

Racing with faster guys will make you faster.

Slow is Fast

Thunder Valley R/C Raceway • Re: TVR GOES MODIFIED!!
Im pretty new to TVR you could say(1 season plus a couple races) and i would say the winning or losing doesnt matter too much unless your trying to get sponsored. Its about the fun and joy of the sport. :) Starting with a lower motor anyhow helps you learn to drive better. I had a 17.5 last season in my 2WD SCT and a Castle 3800kv in my ST. I ran faster laps bcz on that tighter track, it was better to be slow  Now on oval it maybe matter a little more but with a bigger motor, you will probly slide up the track more.....just my take.
BTW, John, do you know which weekend you are gonna pass out the plaques? Im working again but ill take off one weekend to come and race and get it :!:

Thunder Valley R/C Raceway • Re: TVR GOES MODIFIED!!
We ran indoor all winter at Xtreme with open buggy and truck. The 13.5s were just as fast as the 7.5s. It just comes down to not wrecking! If you aren't winning now, going mod isn't going to change that. Mod will allow for more diverse setups and changes you can do. As all of us are guilty at at one point or another of changing crap too much instead of adapting with what we have. I have used a boosted 13.5 and non-boosted 8.5 on the same night with little change in lap times, they just went through the track on a different pace but overall same times. Just put in laps. A lot of whining about money... I have spent a ton in the last year and not one thing I bought made me "instantly" faster or better. Going racing 2-3 times a week has me doing better. Quit typing and race boys!!!

Everyone has to come to the realization that rules don't work anymore. Kind of like Beau says, you have to police yourself and not be dumb enough to know when you are overpowered and too much power is hurting your performance, and creating a lot of wear and tear on your car.

Back in the day, you needed all the power you could get, today with brushless and lipos, you can't put all the power down, not even close. There are so many different brands and ratings of motors and batteries out there that trying to have rules is a losing battle. In my opinion......but what do I know?

Agreed.....now if this was a track with very high traction (like a carpet track), then you would have trouble. But with dirt, not gonna be that big a deal since almost all brushless systems put too much power down to start with, even the 'stock' systems, and then you are going to have traction issues.

On that point, the big risk won't be who has the hottest motor, but who has the stickiest tires (if tire choices are not limited). That is what I like about 1/8 late model. Most tracks limit you to the DLM2 or the Ofna Street tire and nothing else. Don't have to tote a big box of tires with you to a track. Only need one or two sets tops..

Those tires give decent traction, but not enough to put a large amount of horsepower down. You can be competitive running a cheap $120 engine against someone running a $600 screamer because that engine can't put the power down.

Even the electric 1/8 cars, most racers have to turn the punch control down to maintain traction...

It went pretty well for those that showed up. The track was awesome as well as the weather. We had enough to run 4wd sc and 1/8 nitro buggy. We tried out a new format in 1/8 buggy and was able to run a 15 minute main. That was a blast. Don't know what will happen next weekend as it's Memorial Day weekend, but maybe we'll have people show.

Get off at Rogers Ave East exit off I-540, creep down Rogers Ave in heavy Sat evening traffic for 10 blocks, go thru Barling, and you there! Ya...that's it!

Fort Chaffee R/C Raceway • Re: GOING NIGHTS STARTING MAY 19, 2012
Yep, we use AMB!

As far as directions, from Greenbrier, go south to I-40, get on I-40 West to EXIT 7, which takes you onto I-540 South.

Go south on I-540 to Exit 3 (Fort Chaffee exit), this is the last exit right before you cross the Arkansas River. Turn left at the stop sign onto Riggs Drive.

Turn left at the stop light onto Hwy 59 South. Go south on Hwy 59 about 10 miles (watch your speed! Van Buren cops will getcha!) You will be going south thru the Van Buren River bottoms and will finally go across the River at Lock & Dam 13. Continue south to the stop light in Barling. Turn left onto Highway 22.

Almost there! Almost immediately you will see the Interstate 49 overpass and a railroad track. Immediately after the railroad track, take the next right onto 4th Avenue. After turning in, immediatly turn right onto Fort Chaffee Blvd.

The first driveway on the left goes to the track. It used to be a ballfield, so you will see the backstop, lights, and driver stand a few feet ahead of you on the hill.

You are there! There is AC available, but you will need pit tables and lighting in case the field lights are not bright enough for you.

A shorter route would probably be to go to Russelleville, go across the river to Dardanelle, turn west on Hwy 22 and take it all the way to Fort Chaffee that way, but it would be two lane road until you got to the Hwy 96 Jct. (Lavaca), at that point it is a 4 lane highway west to Chaffee...

The bullring will be racing this Sunday so let's have a good turn out and come race at the bullring

Statistics: Posted by Fatboy Racing — Sat Oct 01, 2011 12:05 am

The Bullring R/C Raceway • "Ironman Dash for Cash" Sunday, August 21st!
In addition to our regular program, we have added a special race for August 21st. The race will be called the "Ironman Dash for Cash". It will immediately follow the mains and will be totally independent from the regular race program. This should be a lot of fun for everyone involved!

Below are the rules:

1. No whining.
2. 5 minute race length
3. Any vehicle that is LEGAL for competition in any class at The Bullring will be allowed, with the exception of 1/8 elec. buggy. 1/8 buggies will not be allowed.
4. No reverse will be allowed (as always)
5. Racers will draw for starting position.
6. Start will be heads-up (just like the mains)
7. Entry fee is $5 per person.
8. If we have more than 12 entries, we will split the classes in two, running two totally independent 5 minute races (the driver's stand only has enough room for 12)
9. It will be 100% payback. The payscale will be as follows:

1st Place-50%
2nd Place-30%
3rd Place-20%

Example: If we have 10 entries, the purse would be $50 total, $25,$15,$10 for first, second, and third places respectively.
10. Now, here is the kicker! There will be NO TURN MARSHALLS! The only way that your vehicle wil be touched is if it is upside down in the racing lane, or if it becomes disabled and is blocking traffic, then it will be removed from the track and your race will be finished. If your vehicle becomes high centered on a pipe, it will not be touched. If you can free it using only your transmitter, WITHOUT REVERSE, you can continue racing. If in the event time has not elapsed and only one vehicle remains racing, that vehicle will be declared the winner.
11. NO whining.

We will try this and if it works out well (which I think it will) we will do it (and other fun special events) from time to time. So, let the smack talk begin! Who will take home the big $$$ and who will go home with their tail between their legs????
